Immortal Beloved

Upon Ludwig van Beethoven's (Gary Oldman) death, his lifelong friend Anton (Jeroen Krabbé) sets out to discover the identity of the composer's mysterious muse after uncovering heartfelt love letters addressing her only as "immortal beloved." Through flashbacks, director Bernard Rose investigates Beethoven's artistic and romantic passions, with a finale that features a magical encapsulation of Beethoven's life and loves set to his "Ode to Joy."
